Specialises in new technologies law, including legal aspects of e-commerce. He is an expert in the field of electronic documents, electronic identification (electronic signature) and authentication methods.
Professor Szostek is an expert in the European Parliament's Artificial Intelligence Observatory (EPAIO) and a member of the Blockhaton Forum in the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUiPO).
Legal advisor (licence no. KT 3267, OIRP Katowice), Managing Partner, habilitated doctor, professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Opole in the Department of Law and Civil Procedure. Member of the Committee for Legal and Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Katowice.
He chairs the Scientific Council of the Virtual Department of Ethics and Law (consortium of the University of Silesia, University of Warsaw, UKSW, PW, UW, UO, UWr, UŁ, PAN, AFM, MC, NASK).
Professor Szostek is also the Head of the Centre for Legal Problems of Technology and New Technologies at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Opole.
He participates in numerous scientific conferences, legislative works on legal regulations concerning new technologies, conducts lectures and trainings, was a member of expert teams at the Ministry of Justice.
